Get active with social media activist, author and expert Deanna Zandt

Award-winning media technologist and social media specialist Deanna Zandt, co-founder and partner at Lux Digital will speak on Northwestern University’s Evanston and Chicago campuses this week.

As the author of Share This! How You Will Change the World with Social Networking, Zandt’s keynote talk is entitled “Sharing is Daring, Your Voice Making Change, Online and Off.” Part of the Northwestern Women’s Center’s yearlong Power and Privilege: A Call to Action series, Zandt will discuss the impact people are making and the challenges they face by connecting and sharing information related to political campaigns and movements through social media.

A consultant to key media and advocacy organizations, Zandt is a leading expert in women and technology. She is a frequent guest on CNN International, BBC Radio and Fox News, and has advised the White House on digital strategy and public engagement. In 2012, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America awarded Zandt their first-ever social media Maggie Award for Media Excellence for her work on Tumbler.

Digital marketing and small business social media experts in Chicagoland can hear Zandt from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Hilton Garden Inn on 1818 Maple Avenue in downtown Evanston.

Zandt will also speak from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in room 249 at Wieboldt Halon on 339 E. Chicago Avenue, on Northwestern’s Chicago campus. Zandt will also speak from 7 to 9 p.m. that evening in McCormick Tribune Auditorium at the Norris University Center on 1999 Campus Drive, on the Evanston campus. The evening presentation is free.
